Array Technologies Ships 1.2 MW System to Chile
DuraTrack™ HZ system’s debuts in the Atacama Desert
Albuquerque, NM – 6/20/12 – Array Technologies’ has completed shipping a 1.2 MWdc DuraTrack™ HZ tracking system for a project near Vicuña, Chile. Situated in the northern Atacama Desert, which receives some of the highest levels of solar radiation in the world, the DuraTrack™ HZ system highlights the growing demand for clean renewable energy in Latin America.
With dry bearings field-tested for 100 years, Array Technologies’ DuraTrack™ HZ tracker is able to withstand extreme weather events such as the sandstorms that frequent the Atacama Desert. Subject to harsh environmental conditions in accelerated tests by Boeing, the largest aerospace company in the world, the DuraTrack™ HZ system delivered peak performance and continued to track perfectly past its 30 year lifetime. Reliability and performance aside, the DuraTrack™ HZ system generates the maximum return on investment in the industry today.
Spanning over 5 acres, the DuraTrack™ HZ system will use the abundant PV resources available to provide clean power in an area that often lacks energy infrastructure and power grid access.
