Array Technologies Announces Completion of 23 MW DuraTrack HZ Tracking System in Texas
Two phase site expands CPS Energy’s renewable energy profile
Albuquerque, NM – 6/18/12 – 200 acres of empty land outside the city limits of San Antonio, TX, now hosts 23 MWs of Array Technologies’ DuraTrack HZ™ solar trackers. Owned and developed by EPC SunEdison, the energy generated by the 83,000 tracking panels will be utilized by CPS under a 25 year power-purchasing agreement.
Array Technologies’ DuraTrack HZ™ system was chosen for the project for its proven performance, reliability and easy maintenance. The smart simplicity of the design ensures maximum flexibility on all types of terrain and up to 25% more power generation than typical fixed-rack designs.
In a ceremony today, officials dedicated the site as the William R. Sinkin Solar Farm, after Bill Sinkin, the 99-year-old solar advocate and founder of Solar San Antonio.
The land near the Dos Rios Water Recycling Center was leased to SunEdison by San Antonio Water System, a move that helps reduce costs significantly over the lifetime of the project. The solar farm will power 2,550 homes annually.
