Arizona State University Expands DuraTrack HZ™ Site to 3.48 MWs
New Polytech site adds 1.48 MWs to Array’s West Campus system
Albuquerque, NM – 4/4/12 – A 1.48 MW DuraTrack HZ™ system has been completed for Arizona State University, bringing the total on-campus capacity of Array Technologies’ trackers to 3.48 MW. Constructed by EPC Ameresco Southwest, the university will utilize the energy produced under a power-purchasing agreement.
ASU, often referred to as ‘Arizona Solar University,’ for its leading initiatives in solar power generation has set a goal to be carbon-neutral by 2025, and the DuraTrack HZ™ system from Array Technologies will help the university achieve its goals as part of its pioneering PV expansion plan.
A 2 MW DuraTrack HZ™ system was installed at ASU’s West Campus in February of last year, and the Polytech Campus site is the university’s second tracking system from Array Technologies.
The DuraTrack HZ™ system was chosen for its ability to generate up to 25% more energy than fixed-rack applications, maximizing ground structure while reducing installation tolerances with its articulating drivelines, ensuring reliable and smooth operation day after day. These advantages translate into the highest return on investment for the university and its students.
ASU currently has over 10 MW of tracking and fixed-rack applications with a goal of getting 20 MW online by 2014, making it the largest combined PV system of any U.S. university.
