4th Brigade Headquarters Powered by the Sun with a DuraTrack HZ™ Tracking System
Fort Carson site provides 62% of energy for 138,000-sq. foot facility
Albuquerque, NM – 9/20/11 – 4th Brigade Headquarters for the Army at Fort Carson, CO., inaugurated a 482 kW system that will generate approximately 62% of the electricity needed for one of its main facilities.
Constructed using Array Technologies’ DuraTrack HZ™ tracking system, the solar site will not only generate reliable, clean energy but also a maximum return on investment for the lifetime of the project—saving taxpayers money while helping to mitigate the base’s impact on its environment. Thanks to the smart design and articulating drivelines of the DuraTrack HZ™ system, unnecessary material and installation costs are eliminated while providing robust tracking performance that is reliable and requires little to no maintenance.
The headquarters facility received a U.S. Green Building Council Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design platinum certification, which was achieved with resource and energy conservation measures along with the clean power generation of the DuraTrack HZ™ solar tracking system.
The brigade and battalion headquarters building, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson features an on-site solar array, which supplies approximately 62% of the building’s electrical power needs.
