3 MW Project near Oxford, North Carolina, Complete
Granville Solar Facility utilizes Array Technologies’ DuraTrack™ HZ system
Albuquerque, NM – 10/19/12 – Array Technologies has announced the completion of the Granville Solar Facility, a 3 MWdc solar installation located near Oxford, NC. The clean solar energy generated at the site will be sold to Progress Energy Carolinas under a power purchase agreement (PPA) for the lifetime of the project.
Situated on 40 acres of land, Array Technologies’ DuraTrack™ HZ tracking system provides the robust performance, long-term dependability and reliable functionality that have made it the most widely-deployed tracker today, with nearly 1 GW shipped worldwide.
Able to withstand wind loads of up to 145 mph IBC, the DuraTrack™ HZ system was chosen for this east coast site, which is often subject to high winds as well as the occasional hurricane force event. The DuraTrack™ HZ tracker has a stow switch that triggers the array to lay flat during extreme wind loads to protect from damage, and when the conditions subside the system automatically resumes full operation.
The Granville Solar Facility is one of many projects in North Carolina, an east coast hotbed for solar PV development, which is home to many other DuraTrack™ HZ tracking installations.
