25 MW System Now Second Largest in New Mexico and Largest Thin Film Tracking System
Santa Teresa solar site will power approximately 6,600 homes
Albuquerque, NM – 8/31/11 – Array Technologies has announced the completion of a 25 MW solar site in Santa Teresa, NM., making it the second largest single installation in the state. The Roadrunner Solar Generating Facility, owned by NRG Energy and constructed by EPC First Solar, is located about 10 miles from El Paso. NRG Energy will sell the clean electricity generated to El Paso Electric at a low fixed rate for the 20 year lifetime of the project.
Spread over 210 acres, Array Technologies’ DuraTrack HZ™ tracking system provides up to a 25% energy gain over fixed-tilt applications while maximizing land coverage, essential to providing the best return on investment for every utility-scale project. Chosen for its reliability and innovative design, the DuraTrack HZ™ system is known for its robust, field-tested performance that customers have come to know and expect from Array Technologies.
The system will generate enough electricity to power approximately 6,600 El Paso homes annually, delivering clean, renewable energy to area residents. NRG Energy also has the option to expand its future solar capacity with an additional 200 acres adjacent to the site.
