1.5 MW Staples Distribution Center Site Complete
Installation located in Hagerstown, MD Is largest in state
Albuquerque, NM – 9/21/10 – Array Technologies has announced the completion of the Staples Distribution Center Project in Hagerstown, MD., making it the largest solar installation in the state of Maryland. Headed by EPC and owner Sun Edison for Staples, Inc., the project will generate approximately 37 million kWh and offset 74 million lbs. of carbon dioxide over the lifetime of the project.
11,000 panels were mounted to Array Technologies’ DuraTrack, HZ™ tracking system at the site, providing up to a 25% energy gain over fixed-rack applications. The Hagerstown site now brings the total solar capacity of Staples, Inc. to 2.5 MW, including another system in Hanover, MD.
All the energy produced by the plant will be sold to Staples under a power-purchasing agreement, and Sun Edison will own, operate and maintain the facility.
The Hagerstown Staples Distribution Center is the 100th company building to receive an Energy Star Award from the EPA.
