1.2 MWs Now Operational in Anthem, Arizona

DuraTrack HZ™ system to power 100% of wastewater plant

Albuquerque, NM – 9/3/09 – A 1.2 MW system has been activated for Johnson Utilities in Anthem, AZ, supplying the wastewater treatment plant with 100% of its energy needs. Constructed by EPC and PV panel manufacturer Suntech Power, the site will provide valuable energy savings to the utility over the lifetime of the project. Locked in at a levelized cost of energy, customers will reap the benefits of the installation for 20 years or more as the system is unaffected by the rising cost of electricity.

The site, which uses Array Technologies’ DuraTrack HZ™ tracking system, provides several major advantages—the foremost being up to a 25% net energy gain over typical fixed-rack installations. The DuraTrack HZ™ system also maximizes ground coverage while minimizing unnecessary materials that add to the cost with no benefit in performance. With an articulating driveline design that uses fewer motors per MW than any other tracking system, DuraTrack HZ™ trackers are easy to install on any terrain and provide the best return on investment in the industry.

The first private utility to fully power a wastewater treatment plant with clean energy in Arizona, the 6 acre solar facility furthers Pima County’s goal of generating 15% of its power from renewable sources by 2025.
